In the gospel of John, a man named Philip, who had been following Jesus for—well, maybe a few hours—went to his friend Nathanael and said, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
Nathanael’s crusty reply was “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
Philip responded to Nathanael’s jaded question with a simple invitation, much like Jesus had given to others the day before; “Come and see.”
Like Philip, I have found in Jesus what my heart longs for and He has drawn me into a lifetime of following Him on His Kingdom-building mission.
This is a book of stories. They are experiences myself and others have had, with a few lessons I’ve learned during my journey with Jesus. I share them with you because He is better than I’d dared to hope for. To me, He has been increasingly worthy of following. These stories are an invitation.
Like Nathanael, you too might think “Could He really be that good?” “Is He worth following?”
Come and see.
